To celebrate fathers day this year my parents and I went up to Yosemite and met up with my sister Megan and her husband so we could spend the day together. Since moving to California 7 years ago this was only our second trip there to explore. The first thing we saw were lots and lots of cars headed in the same direction that we were headed, some in much fancier cars that thought we were going to slow for them, and then ending up in the same place at the same time we did, it was fun to laugh at them. Once we got into the park we went to Bridalveil falls, the last time we were there there was a couple getting married right next to the falls so it was hard to get around them and get a nice look at the falls, yesterday there was no wedding party, but the closer we got to the observation deck the wetter everything got... including us, I called it our second shower for the day, but thankfully we all pretty much dried quickly except for our shoes and socks, and yes I was wearing shoes.
After Bridalveil falls we went and found a picnic area which was pretty crowded, at least the parking lot was because it was half flooded but everyone kept coming in and finding some place to park. When we were leaving there was a car coming down the hill straight towards us that wasn't willing to back up, and normally we would have done the backing but there were large mud puddles that if we had backed up, we would have gotten stuck, the man very unwillingly backed up just enough so we could get through. After that adventure it was off to find another parking spot and some trails to follow, which wasn't an easy task. My dad said that traffic and the number of people there was worse then LA, I don't know how true that was but it was pretty bad, but we were able to find a parking spot where the crowds had disapated some so it really was very peaceful as we walked the trail, took naps, wondered off the trail, and of course stuck brain ticklers up the nose of him who was napping. It was a very nice day, just way to many people for my taste.

Oh the Cravings
Ok So its been a couple weeks since I have posted because honestly since graduation I have had nothing really to talk about. I went to the beach, which was fun, but I didn't feel like blogging about it and other then that I haven't really done much, I clean the kitchen, make dinner and until today I have been waiting for my college transcripts to arrive so I could start applying for jobs in the morning, yes this is my life... it is as pathetic as it sounds, but to make it sound better I have been going to FHE and institute and other activities during the evening.
Now that the recap is over here is what the blog tonight is really about. If you ever have a conversation with me that involves food then you should know that I have cravings like there is no tomorrow, and I really just add to my cravings, a couple weeks ago I really wanted a Boston Cream Donut, then I wanted a jelly filled donut with the boston cream, and so on and so on, it just builds up until I get it. I was looking at Yahoo tonight and it had an article on how to avoid cravings in 6 steps.
1. Spread your calories throughout the day, when I first read this I laughed because I don't pay attention to calories, or really how much I eat a day, and I get cravings even when I am in the middle of eating something good.
2. Stay distracted... Yeah that doesn't work for me, if I have a craving then even when I am busy it likes to come and haunt me so I could be thinking something like what is 1+1 and say that it equals a Boston Cream donut, not a good example but you get the point.
3. Give your tongue a treat not your stomach. It says that breath mints help, now I am sorry, but breath mints do not drive my cravings away.
4. Create Mantra, Now I didn't know what this was but its saying out loud that you aren't going to eat a plate of cookies or something, well while you say out loud I am not going to eat that plate of cookies I am saying out loud that I will eat your share, saying no doesn't help.
5. Go ahead and indulge, lightly. I liked this step until it said lightly, I enjoy every bite I take and the more I eat the happier I get.
6. Keep it brief. It said to just take a couple bites and to savor it, well I can take lots of bites and savor it and boy, the last bit is always as good as the first.
