The Cone of Shame

As you all probably know by now a little over a week ago my cat had a major surgery due to her like of eating things she really shouldn't eat. Last Friday I was able to bring her home she has been doing so much better then what she was before the surgery which makes me extremely happy. My sister and parents have started calling her poodle due to the fact that a portion of both her front legs were shaved along with her entire belly. She also started to get into the habit of chewing her many stitches out of her 6 inch long incision, because she decided to to this we had to take her back for her check up a couple days early because there were parts of her incision that had started to open up, thankfully they weren't bleeding or anything. On Wednesday my dad and I fought to get her into her cat carrier and off we went back to the vet, I never thought that every one in the vets office would know my cat so well. The result of the trip was she received 3 staples to make up for the stitches she had gotten out and was sentenced to at least a weeks worth of wearing the Cone of Shame. I feel so sorry for her because she completely lives up to the fact that it is shameful to wear it, she walks with her head down, runs into every thing and it takes a lot to get her out from under a bed.

Kitty Update

As most of you well know, or at least should know very well, my cat is pretty much my life line of happiness. When I am home she follows me around, we play together, we cuddle, she climes into bed (literally) with me when it is time to go to sleep and is always there when I need comfort. Cheesy I know, but I love my cat. Well last week we made the mistake of leaving our garbage out from underneath the sink and our dog got into it, and my cat always following the dogs example help her self to the many tasty treats that had been revealed. The morning after the trash was explored for all it yummyness my dear sweet Pyra started to get sick, we thought it was just a little thing that would go away but by Friday morning she was still really sick and starting to become very week, so off to the vet I took her, we were given 2 options, take her home and put her on medication or have x-rays to see what was going on, I chose to take the first option deciding that nothing that bad could ever happen to my cat.

On Monday she still hadn't eaten anything since the previous Wednesday so we took her in again and were given the same options, and again we picked the same one, thinking that she had to get better eventually. Well Wednesday came along and she still wasn't better, so off to the Vet I took her again, and this time we decided we would go for the x-rays, which meant I had to leave my kitty behind at the vet and go to school. During my first class I received a call from the vet saying that they had found an obstruction right below the stomach, I had missed the call but had my dad call them back and give the go ahead to do the surgery needed to help my kitty get better. During my second class I got a call again from the vet during a quiz, which yes I did get up and walk out in the middle of, saying that my cat was out of surgery and starting wake up but wasn't out of the woods yet. Later that evening they called again saying that she was healing but they needed to keep her so that they could rehydrate her and make sure she didn't have any post op problems and that I could come in and visit Today and bring her home on Friday.

It turns out that during the garbage rummaging Pyra at a small rubber bead that my mom bought for my nephew that always end up all over the floor when they come to visit. But she is doing better, I went and saw her today and already you can she her regaining her strength and she has a spark back in her eyes. Best part is I get to go and bring her home tomorrow!

February Travels

This past month I was able to make a couple of trips away from the central valley, one was for work, and one was to recharge and get away from everything here. I was able to spend my 4 day weekend with my sister and my 2 adorable nephews. I fought bad guys, shot monsters, escaped sharks and got stuffed in a closet to hide from all the evil things that were after me. It is amazing the imagination that a 3 year old can have. While there we took a trip down to the LA temple, my sister had been wanting to go to the LA Temple for awhile but didn't have anyone to watch their kids so it finally worked out so that I could go down and watch them. I had had a nice vision of how the day was going to be, it was supposed to be sunny so that I could let the boys play on the huge grassy area they have in front of the temple, I was going to take lots of fun pictures of them with me and the temple and we were just going to have a ball playing out side. I had had very little plans on spending much time in the visitors center because there is only so much you can do with a three year old and a one year old to keep them occupied for the hour and a half their parents would be in the temple. Now let me tell you, it did not turn out at all how I planed. My sister informed me the night before that it was supposed to rain the next day, I was hoping that it would be just around where she lives but no it was raining at the temple, correction it was pouring at the temple which meant that we had to spend most the time in side. there were a couple times we ventured out to walk around the temple and both times half way around it would start to pour again so we would have to trudge back to the visitors center to wait. To top things off what should have been about an hour and a half turned into about three hours of waiting for my sister to come back so I had a few very anxious kids by the time they got back and neither of them wanted anything to do with Auntie Bones once they came out. Sometimes it is funny being a member of the church because you can look young, and have two little kids with you walking around the visitors center and everyone will think that they are your kids, and when you say oh no they are my nephews they look at you like you are crazy! I had oh about 5 sweet sister missionaries ask me if my nephews were mine, and each time I responded they didn't know what to say. So sorry for the lack of pictures and post for the month of February but really aside from that trip it was pretty boring except that I found out for sure that I'M GRADUATING in may. On May 26th I will have received my AA degree in American Sign Language Deaf Studies, its a mouth full but it is exciting. My mom wants me to walk, and I am trying to figure out different ways on getting out of it, and what in the world (literally) am I going to do after I am done.
